From Home to Healthcare: Michelle Turner's Journey
Michelle Turner didn’t just enter healthcare; she lived it. With 15 years in the industry, including a pivotal role at Hazel Health, Michelle’s most profound insights came from her own living room. Over five years, she and her husband fostered more than 40 children, adopting four. These deeply personal experiences fueled her mission to fix the fractured healthcare journey faced by foster kids.
Here Now Health: A System Built for Stability
At Here Now Health, the mission is clear: provide longitudinal mental healthcare and caregiver support for families involved in the foster care system. As Michelle explains, a major issue is how fragmented and inaccessible services are. Paperwork errors, long wait times, and placement changes often delay or disrupt care. This results in poor outcomes and even forces families to give up custody just to access services.
By offering continuity of care, even through transitions, and focusing on caregivers’ well-being, Here Now Health aims to reduce hospitalizations, stabilize placements, and accelerate family reunifications.
Built by Experience, Driven by Passion
Michelle's team isn’t just clinically talented; they’ve lived the system. With over 75% having experienced foster care firsthand, the staff brings a level of empathy and understanding that transforms service into support. This lived expertise ensures that care isn't just technically sound but emotionally and contextually aware.
Navigating Medicaid and Scaling Across States
Serving a Medicaid-exclusive population comes with challenges including lower reimbursement rates, complex regulations, and state-specific licensing. But Michelle is undeterred. She’s already launched clinical services in Virginia and expects expansion to one or two more states by year’s end.
What’s Next: Data, Impact, and Growth
Michelle is focused on proving that good care equals great outcomes. She's building systems to track metrics like reduced disruptions in care, fewer residential placements, and faster reunification timelines. With a mission-fueled team and strong investor interest, Michelle’s goal is not just to grow but to change the system entirely.
