Michael Dalton is the founder and CEO of Ovatient, a virtual-first health care services company born out of a partnership between The Medical University of South Carolina and The MetroHealth System in Cleveland, Ohio. As CEO, he is dedicated to fostering a culture of collaborative innovation as Ovatient expands the reach of its Digital Health HomeTM and Virtual Multispecialty Practice to deliver more connected, coordinated, and convenient care to patients in partnership with health systems, health plans and employers. His role at Ovatient is a culmination of his life's work and passion for effective servant leadership and taking on seemingly impossible challenges in order to create systemic, positive change.

Prior to his role at Ovatient, he served as the Vice President for the Virtual Care Enterprise at MetroHealth where he was responsible for designing, coordinating and implementing the health system’s virtual and at-home healthcare services strategy. This role was essential to advancing MetroHealth’s care delivery footprint and empowering patients to receive care how, when and where is most convenient for them. He helped launch MetroHealth’s Hospital in The Home, Remote Monitoring, and Virtual Maternity Care programs amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, along with numerous other virtual care initiatives.

Michael also served as the Vice President for Executive Projects at MetroHealth, where he worked with policymakers to shape legislation and regulation that delivered more funding to serve patient throughout Ohio as well serve as a front-line leader for MetroHealth’s COVID-19 response. He also led a statewide coalition of safety-net providers who were able to secure $225 million annually from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services to combat the state's opioid epidemic and address numerous population health challenges. This effort has resulted in over $1.3 billion to date in new federal funding for health services in Ohio.

Before joining MetroHealth, Michael was the System Director of Government Relations for Summa Health System in Akron, Ohio, developing and leading the health system's policy priorities and engagement with leaders at all levels of government.

Michael’s academic background includes a bachelor's in political science and business administration from the University of Akron and a Master’s in Positive Organizational Development and Change from Case Western Reserve University. In 2018, he was named one of the nation’s top young health care professionals by Modern Healthcare.
